Tips to make you an irresistible candidate

Interviewing for a new position, at a new company can be a daunting experience. Your task is to not only impress the interviewer but to keep your cool, calm your nerves and make sure you’re the one they remember.

Here are 5 tips to make you a memorable and irresistible candidate.

  1. Get some practice
It’s really easy to search for potential questions you might get asked during an interview. Practicing answering these questions will ensure that you feel a little more relaxed and confident, should any of them arise during the interview.

  2. CV Optimisation
Believe it or not, there is an art to crafting a successful CV. Good grammar, no more than two pages of A4, professional font and email address are just the standard practices of creating a CV worth reading. Try tailoring your CV to match the job you are applying for; the skills required for the position should be highlighted. Your social media pages should also be kept up to date – Employers are much more likely to search you on social media in this technologically advanced world we live in.

  3. Research
Probably one of the first tips anyone will give you about interviews is to do your research. It is important that you know about the company and the role you are interviewing for. Walking in, unprepared, is a sure way to fail and you don’t want to fail before you get a chance to start!
  4. Know your worth
Do a little bit of research on the average salary for the position you are applying for. There are plenty of guides out there for job salaries based on skill level and experience. Don’t sell yourself short and accept less than you are worth.

  5. A positive attitude
With a positive attitude, your enthusiasm can really be picked up by your potential employer and the more positivity you show, the more memorable you and your interview will be.

One extra tip – Make sure you smile!  (old telesales trick! – it changes your voice tone and hides the nerves)
